Policy Workgroup - Telemedicine: Improving Healthcare with Innovative Technology

The panelists spoke on topics including Congressional activity relating to Telemedicine, State policy innovations, payment and care delivery models, challenges moving forward, and thoughts on the future of telemedicine.

This summary pertains to the May 6, 2014 meeting involving updates on data review from CMS and ONC, voluntary 2015 Edition Electronic Health Record (EHR) certification proposed rule comments, and Long-term post-acute care (LTPAC) and Behavioral Health (BH) EHR certification recommendations.

On May 28, 2014, eHealth Initiative (eHI) held a Capitol Hill briefing for health policy staffers and the public to discuss the EHR incentive program, Meaningful Use. The briefing, titled “An Update on Meaningful Use: Where Are We in Bringing Digital Health Records to Life,” allowed presenters across the health information technology (IT) spectrum to provide an overview of their perception on the Meaningful Use program and how to succeed on a sustainable glide path for an integrated health IT ecosystem.
