Attend the September eHI PWG and hear the latest on Congressional legislative innovation and Health IT activity. The House passed its health innovation initiative – the 21st Century Cures Act – on July 10, 2015. On the Senate side, Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Chair Lamar Alexander (R-TN) and Ranking Member Patty Murray (D-WA) recently requested for stakeholders across the health IT spectrum to send structured, succinct feedback about how to promote health care safety, innovation, interoperability and a move towards precision medicine. The Senate HELP Committee has held a series of hearings on these issues and recently formed a bipartisan working group on electronic health records. They are now weighing potential legislation, oversight or other actions. Key Congressional staffers have been invited to speak on the PWG call about the latest legislative or other developments including: • Colin Goldfinch, Health Policy Advisor, Office of the Honorable Patty Murray (D-WA), U.S. Senate • Robb Walton, Health Policy Advisor, Office of the Honorable William Cassidy (R-LA), U.S. Senate • Danielle Steele, Esq., Legislative Counsel, Office of the Honorable Michael Burgess (R-TX)
