While at this meeting, which provided many opportunities to speak with customers about their priorities, I presented on the new CMS Quality Payment Program (QPP) called for by the 2015 Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA), which sets out a path to value-based Medicare physician payment.

Notably,  the Medicare Access & CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 (MACRA) initiated major changes in Medicare physician payment.  In addition to ending the long reviled Sustainable Growth Rate (SGR) used to update Medicare professionals’ payments, MACRA creates two new value-based programs, which will rely on interoperable health IT (HIT).

Avoiding Silos in Healthcare: Empowering Care Coordination Across Settings

Access to relevant patient data integrated with additional information from payers and other sources at the point of care can enable providers to create a more comprehensive longitudinal patient record. With a comprehensive patient record, providers can proactively identify health trends and patterns, moving away from reactive, uncoordinated care and toward more holistic patient care coordination.

2015 ACO Survey Results

Since 2013, eHealth Initiative and Premier, Inc. have surveyed public and commercial accountable care organizations to better understand how ACOs are leveraging health information technology to achieve cost savings and quality improvement.
