Overview
In 2019, EHI developed the Ethical Uses of SDOH Data Framework. Since then, we have held various webinars and roundtables to discuss the importance of collecting, evaluating, and reporting data in ways that are innovative and impactful. Throughout the pandemic, data was at the center of contract tracing, vaccination efforts, and mortality which exposed the variable health outcomes as result of social determinants of health. Two years after the start of the pandemic and the framework, EHI is diving deeper into data to think about what’s coming next and what should we be thinking about
The next SDOH/Health Equity workgroup will be a dialogue on sensitive data elements (potentially race/ethnicity or all REAL/SOGI data) that are used in screening for social determinants and the impact of their use. During this workgroup, we’ll identify common themes among the questions we have, and who can help address the questions and guide us in developing some potential ethical standards.
To help guide the discussion, we’d like to hear from you. What are the questions that you have about sensitive data and its use? What are the questions that we should be asking ourselves? What are the questions that we should be asking others?
Andrea Green and Monica Simmonds from LexisNexis will join us to discuss their experiences. We invite others to also share their perspective.
