Healthcare.gov Voted Second Most Trusted Website

Despite its bumpy rollout in 2013, Healthcare.gov is now the second most trusted consumer-facing website according to the Online Trust Alliance. The firm conducted their 8th Annual Online Trust Audit and Honor Roll, examining 1,000 websites. Twitter, Pinterest, The White House, and Dropbox round out the top five most trusted websites in this year’s survey.

Cerner Top EHR Vendor by Market Share - Kalorama

According to research firm, Kalorama Information, Cerner maintains a razor-thin advantage over McKesson as the top electronic health records vendor. This is due to Cerner’s acquisition of Siemens Healthcare in 2015. Additional  revenue has been moving to mid-sized EMR specialists from IT and diversified healthcare companies over the last four years, according to Bruce Carlson of Kalorama, in a statement.  EHR vendor, Epic, rounds out the top three.

Physician Burnout May be Caused by EHR Use

A recent survey from research firm, InCrowd, found that primary care physicians reported electronic health record technology as the second most cited factor behind physician burnout. One respondent noted that physician EHR use "nearly doubled the time and expense of medical practice for most direct patient care physicians, including physicians in training, without increasing any type of reimbursement." Two specialties were singled out: primary care and emergency medicine, who reported more than half experienced burnout. Steven Stack, MD of the American Medical Association cited EHR adoption as having a hand in burnout in an interview.

In a survey by Nielsen, the majority of physicians have yet to recommend wearable devices to patients. The wearable number rose one percent in 2015, while the others were stagnant. Physicians indicate that they have recommended apps and wearables to the tune of 52 percent and 40 percent, respectively. The survey looked at just over 30,000 consumers and more than 620 physicians for the poll.
