This workgroup provided an opportunity to hear from Madeleine Konig, Senior Policy Analyst with the American Heart Association. Madeleine reviewed the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s initiatives that use health information and electronic tools to inform consumers and providers in order to improve quality of care and support collaborative care. Some programs included in the discussion were My Life Check, Heart 360, the Patient Support Network, Get With The Guidelines (GWTG) and The Guideline Advantage. At the conclusion of the presentation, we discussed the workgroup charter and timeline to develop a toolkit to include best practices among the stakeholders, and resources to assist patient-consumers and healthcare providers in effective ways to integrate health IT into daily workflow.
