Washington, DC – May 11, 2023 - Today, Executives for Health Innovation (EHI) and Elsevier released the report, Provide High-Quality Cancer Care with Clinical Pathways. This report highlights key takeaways from a recent EHI roundtable featuring oncologists and pathway experts on the appropriate use of clinical pathways in oncology and answering relevant questions around the topic from other oncology leaders.
“Convening like-minded oncology experts can have a positive impact on clinical pathways innovation and the future of standardized care,” said Josh Schoeller, President of Clinical Solutions at Elsevier. “It’s clear that clinical pathways, which provide evidence-based guidance, can enable clinicians and their teams to give their patients the best treatment possible. It’s important for those within the field of oncology to share their experiences; through conversations like EHI’s roundtable, real solutions to top challenges can be developed.”
Clinical pathways enable providers to deliver evidence-based healthcare to patients. They provide treatment guidance based on the latest research and support standardization of care. Oncology practices implement pathways to ensure care is at the highest standard of quality, access, affordability, and health outcome.
“With medical knowledge rapidly growing and oncology care continuing to innovate, use of clinical pathways is one of the best strategies a provider and their clinic can implement to ensure their patients receive the best care possible,” said Jennifer Covich Bordenick, CEO of Executives for Health Innovation. “While there is no clear-cut care plan that works for all oncology patients, tools like clinical pathways can standardize methods and access to ensure equitable quality and access to care.”
