Workgroup: Assessing the Quality of Digital Care
Digital health technologies, such as mobile health, wearable devices, telehealth, EHRs, and personalized medicine have grown exponentially in recent years. Their introductions have been accompanied by the promise of increased access to health care services and improved health outcomes.
Despite the growing number of platforms, it remains an industry-wide challenge to provide credible evidence and keep pace on the impact of digital care – hindering wider adoption. This important and timely workgroup will convene to deliberate and brainstorm a path forward on assessing the impact of digital care on care access and outcomes – for patients and providers.

Workgroup: Building a Patient Experience Framework
Patient engagement and individual care experience are top of mind amongst players in the healthcare industry. To improve the overall healthcare experience and keep patients within their networks, the industry is placing priority on the whole patient journey, from clinical and administrative, to financial, and everything in between. This includes increased patient engagement, both directly and indirectly, through text messaging, smartphone apps, patient portals, telehealth visits, and more – meeting patients where they are, at the right time, inside and outside the doctor’s office.
While a positive patient experience is the goal, there is no universal understanding across the healthcare industry of what the “patient experience” is. This workgroup will discuss and identify a framework to better understand the patient experience and assist stakeholders in identifying and improving the whole patient journey. This work will guide further research into the topic, provide directions for quality improvement efforts, and offer potential policy recommendations.
